Description
Fang Yun, the protagonist of the novel, is a young man from a poor family. After his soul travels to another world and is reborn, he uses the poems and articles passed down from Earth to accumulate "literary talent," gradually advancing from a "Tongsheng" (child scholar) to the realm of "Yasheng" (sub-sage). The work unfolds around the conflicts among ten kingdoms, the invasion of barbarian tribes, and the chaos caused by monster clans. It demonstrates the contradictory coexistence of Confucian and Taoist ideas, as well as the integration of "literary talent" into cultivation. Key plots include reforming the imperial examination system and creating "battle poems" (poems with combat power). In the novel’s setting: "Xiucai" (scholars who passed the county-level exam) can "discuss warfare on paper" (i.e., formulate strategies through writing); "Juren" (scholars who passed the provincial-level exam) can "speak in polished phrases" (i.e., express themselves eloquently); and "Shengren" (sages) can "condemn with words and writing" (i.e., criticize or defeat others through their literary works). The "Sheng Yuan" (Sage Academy) governs the "wenwei" (literary rank) system, which ranges from Tongsheng, Xiucai, Juren, Jinshi (scholars who passed the national-level exam) to Shengren.
